    Dr. Sang Mi Cho is Professor at the Department of Social Welfare/Social Economy at Ewha Womans University, where she teaches Understanding Social Economy, Cultural Diversity, Understanding Social Enterprise and Corporate Social Responsibility, and Leadership & Management in Human Service Organizations. Prior to joining Ewha Womans University, Dr. Cho was an Assistant Professor at the College of Social Work, University of Tennessee. Dr. Cho also has experience working as a social worker and volunteer coordinator for the Samsung Global Assistance Program.


    Dr. Cho received her B.S.W. and M.S.W. from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea and her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California in the U.S.A. Her doctoral dissertation, entitled “The Effects of Diversity on Organizational Behavior in a Perceived Homogenous Society: The Case Study for Korea,” was awarded the Outstanding Social Work Dissertation Award from the Society for Social Work and Research.  


    Her areas of research include social enterprise, social economy, corporate social responsibility, industrial & multicultural social work with a focus on workforce diversity and inclusion, social enterprise & corporate social responsibility and organizational effectiveness. Dr. Cho’s work has resulted in many publications and numerous presentations at national and international conferences on topics related to multicultural education and programs, social enterprise and organizational effectiveness. Dr. Cho also served as a board member of multinational corporations such as Shinhan, SK, and Hanhwa, as well as a consultant to a variety of profit and nonprofit organizations for ESG management, diversity management, strategic management and organizational change.

    Sangwon Lee (Ph.D. University of Wisconsin-Madison) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies and an Affiliate Faculty member of the Data Science and Applications Center at New Mexico State University. His research examines the impact of digital media on democratic processes. In particular, he focuses on how social media use changes the ways in which people learn about, engage with, and form opinions on political and social issues. His research has appeared in Communication ResearchHuman Communication Research, New Media & SocietyMass Communication and Society, and Political Behavior among others.

    ​Jung-Kun Pae is a professor of Journalism at Sookmyung Women’s University, Korea. 
    He received his Ph.D. in journalism from Korea University after a long career as a journalist with The Hankook Daily News and The Korea Times in Seoul.
     
    His background helped him to serve as a key liaison in collaborating work between the media industry and journalism academia in Korea, 
    and he is now chair of a special committee for journalism trust in the Korean Society for Journalism & Communication Studies (KSJCS), the oldest 
    and largest academic organization in communication studies in Korea.
     
    He was recently commissioned by the Journalists Association of Korea and the Korea Internet Newspaper Association to enact a new press ethics charter, 
    and he served as a chair of the Journalist Award Jury Committee of the Journalists Association of Korea.
     
    His research focuses on journalism practices and commercial influences on journalism. He was awarded the award for best research paper from the Korean Society 
    for Journalism & Communication Studies in 2015 for the article “Experiencing the Traumatic Event of Sewol Ferry for Journalists”(Korean Journal of Journalism and Communication Studies, 2014, in Korean).​
