Finding an Alternative Energy in the Times of Climate Change Many countries have been making intimidated steps in the face of the disastrous effects of the Fukushima nuclear accidents to reform their energy polices. Korea, China and Japan also need to re-examine their current policy that favors nuclear power development at their roots. This session on energy will examine the changes in the world¡¯s energy policy including Japan. In addition, the panel will discuss over this question: How can renewable energy industry, which has been showing much progress in development as an alternative for climate change, composite the alternative energy scenario after nuclear power phases out? The session will be moderated by Pil-ryul Lee, a professor at National Open University, who is an expert on renewable energy. The first speaker is Andrew Dwit, an economics professor at Rikkyo University, who will give the big picture of the session - the current trends in Japan and the World in energy policy reform. Sung-ho Lee, the vice president at Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association, will present his anal-ysis of the current state of renewable energy industry and the possibility of replacing nuclear power. Shenghong Ma, a professor at Institute of Electrical Engineering, will introduce the current energy policy in China and its improvements and forecasts.
