[2011 ASIA FUTURE FORUM] Preview: the Second day of the Forum:

From SRI to Cooperatives Voicing Experience in Responsibility and Symbiosis On the second day of the Forum, the panels discuss how different sectors endeavor to achieve ¡®Responsi-bility and Symbiosis¡¯. There are six breakout sessions and special lectures. The first breakout session is ¡®Socially Responsible Investing of Pension Fund¡¯ in which East Asian pro-fessionals and Pension Fund operators from Hong Kong will give presentations and then participate in a discussion. The second one is ¡®The Asian Public Sphere for Cooperation and Symbiosis¡¯. Scholars and media program makers from Korea and Japan will come together to share opinions. Asian social entre-preneurs and Tru Mumpuni, this year¡¯s winner of Magsaysay Award, are on the panel for the third brea-kout session, ¡®Social Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development in Asia¡¯. In the fourth breakout ses-sion, ¡®Future of Energy in East Asia: Can Renewable Energy be an Answer?¡¯ experts examine the changes made in Japan¡¯s energy policy after the Great Earthquake. In ¡®2011 East Asia 30¡¯ breakout ses-sion, the process and the results of evaluating CSR in Asian companies will be announced. Lastly, in the sixth breakout session, ¡®Cooperatives, New Economic Development¡¯, the panel will discuss the future of cooperatives that are considered to be a potential economic alternative in the time of crisis. Patrick Smith, the former news editor at International Herald Tribune Asian edition as well as the author of ¡®Japan: A Reinterpretation¡¯, gives a special lecture titled, ¡®Between the East and the West: Symbiosis in the 21st Century¡¯. In the lecture, he will examine the characteristics of the Eastern adaptation of West-ern modernization and progress. After two days of wisdom sharing, the Forum will bring down its curtains.
